Professional background trained as a Biochemist before working within the pharmaceutical industry; went then to Zimbabwe in the 1980s working with the UK government’s Department for International Development on a rural district council capacity building programme. On returning to the UK in 2001 helped to set up an NGO called the Scarman Trust, promoting active citizenship and deepening democratic processes
Work Focus Facilitating processes of institutional change, Asset Based Community Development, public engagement and participation in health service provision, coaching, group facilitation, action learning and peer support
Current occupation Independent lead for Patient and Public Participation within Brighton and Hove's NHS Clinical Commissioning Group being responsible for ensuring that residents of Brighton and Hove are at the heart of the organisation's decision making processes; member of the BHCCG Governing Body
